Fact or Fiction?

More than at anytime in the history of the Charismatic movement, professing Christians are claiming to experience signs and wonders and supernatural manifestations in the form of "angel feathers" from heaven. The question is, Are they fact or fiction?

The need for Christian discernment and common sense is critical. Instead of accepting a claim at face value, Christians should research and investigate the claim, ask questions, request proof, weigh the evidence carefully and objectively, then rely on God's word for their final authority.

A claim without proof is like a bird without feathers--it won't fly. The burden of proof always rests with the one making the claim. Indeed, common sense dictates that when a person makes a claim, but refuses to provide PROOF, it calls into question ALL the claims he or she has made, both past and present.

Christians are under the Scriptural commands to:

  • test all things and try the spirits (1 Thessalonians 5:21; 1 John 4:1)

  • preach the word whether convenient or inconvenient (2 Timothy 4:1-2)

  • guard, protect, and warn fellow Christians (Acts 20:27-31)

  • boldly defend the faith (1 Timothy 6:12; Jude 3)

  • expose the unfruitful works of darkness and those who promote it(Ephesians 5:11-12; 2 Corinthians 4:4)

  • tell the truth in love, even if it offends (Ephesians 4:14-15)

In light of the Scriptural commands, Christian Research Service believes that when professing Christians make a claim, they should be ready, willing, and able to validate their claims and provide proof. If their claims are true, they have nothing to hide or fear from public scrutiny.

Accordingly, if their claim is proven false, they should demonstrate Christian character and repent, rectify the situation, and do what is honorable and truthful in the sight of God and man.

Truth isn't up-for-grabs or however one perceives it. Truth is offensive and doesn't change course in mid-stream. Truth shines light in the midst of darkness and deception, and sets the captive free.
