Letter To the People of South Africa concerning Benny Hinn

Dear Editor:

Televangelist and faith healer, Benny Hinn, is scheduled to visit Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, and Durban, South Africa on March 23-27, 2007.

But this isn't the first time that Hinn has visited Africa. Some of his visits have been shrouded in controversy and deception.

In May 2000, the Kenya Times reported that four people had died during a Benny Hinn crusade in Nairobi, Kenya. The deaths included two children.

In May 2005, Online Nigeria Daily News reported that Benny Hinn left Nigeria  disappointed and complaining that 4 million dollars went "down the drain" during his three day crusade.

In July 2005, the WorldWide Religious News reported on an alleged financial scandal involving the Benny Hinn crusade, and the suspension of a top official within the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria.

Benny Hinn is no stranger to controversy. Since the early 1990's, Benny Hinn's ministry has been under constant scrutiny and criticism from Christians worldwide for what he has said and taught in his books and during his TV telecasts and crusades.

In the past, Hinn has claimed to be a "god" and a "messiah," and claims to have regular visitations from angels, dead people, and Jesus Christ. Hinn has been proven to be a false prophet many times over, and is considered the most prolific false teacher and false healer of our day.

Every year the suffering and dying flock to Benny Hinn's healing crusades, with a hope and a prayer that they will receive their healing. Sadly, they leave the same way they came in--suffering and dying. Precious, innocent children, whose bodies have been deformed and tortured by Multiple Sclerosis and Spina Bifida, leave Hinn's crusades the same way they came in--in wheelchairs.

But since Benny Hinn claims to have the gift of healing, when he arrives in Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, and Durban, ask him to visit the local hospitals and lay hands on the sick and dying. And when the sick and dying aren't completely healed, put Benny Hinn back on the plane!

But don't be surprised if Benny Hinn refuses to go to the hospitals to visit the sick and dying, because he does not have the Biblical gift of healing.

Benny Hinn's teachings and "healing" crusades are dangerous to the spiritual and physical welfare of believers worldwide. If you truly love Jesus Christ, then stand strong in His word and stay away from false prophets like Benny Hinn.

Jesus said: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves (Matthew 7:15).

We truly love the people of South Africa, and pray you will strongly consider this letter when Benny Hinn visits your country.
