Pro-Family Group Continues to Advertise, Promote Pro-Gay Authors
This year, hundreds of cultic, heretical, New Age and pro-gay authors were discovered within major online Christian bookstores (OCB) nationwide.
Eventually, the OCB companies and distributors were contacted and provided with information and a Master List of authors and books--to aid the Christian bookstore industry in the swift removal of the non-Christian materials.
But in spite of the letters, phone calls and irrefutable documentation, the American Family Association continues to advertise and promote pro-gay, homosexual and lesbian authors within two of its OCBs.
The following authors and books may be found by typing in the their names into the AFA Online Store and AFR Bookstore:
Virginia Ramey Mollenkott: Transgender Journeys.
Vanessa Sheridan: co-author of Transgender Journeys.
Donald L. Boisvert: Out on Holy Ground: Meditations on Gay Men's Spirituality.
Michal Anne Pepper: Reconciling Journey: A Devotional Workbook for Lesbian and Gay Christians.
Bruce Bawer: Stealing Jesus: How Fundamentalism Betrays Christianity
Marvin Mahan Ellison: Same-Sex Marriage? A Christian Ethical Analysis Description from the AFA Online Store:
"Extending the right to marry to same-sex couples is frontpage news, and hotly contested in both church and society. This critical book is written by a gay man and progressive Christian ethicist who places justice making at the heart of contemporary spirituality. In dialogue with both legal scholars and theologians, Ellison examines the strengths and weaknesses of how marriage traditionalists, advocates of same-sex marriage, and LBGT (lesbian/bisexual/gay/transgender) critics of marriage analyze the issues and frame their arguments. The book offers constructive proposals! for revitalizing Christian sexual ethics and moving the debate forward, regardless of whether the right to marry is won or lost"
Leanne McCall Tigert: Coming Out Young and Faithful
James Alison: Faith Beyond Resentment: Fragments Catholic and Gay Description from the AFA Online Store:
"For James Alison, a gay Catholic priest, the key to moving beyond resentment is faith"
Henri Nouwen: "Henri J. M. Nouwen’s insightful wisdom is frequently quoted in the evangelical press these days, even though this Roman Catholic priest and psychologist had been supportive of gay people and their relationships for many years."
We believe in holding accountable the companies which sponsor programs attacking traditional family values --American Family Association
By all means, companies should be held accountable for their actions. But who holds AFA accountable for their actions or, in this case, their inactions?
Certainly, AFA is to be commended for their tireless efforts to preserve decency and family values. But in this case, AFA has shirked its responsibility to the body of Christ and created a double standard by continually allowing non-Christian materials to be advertised and promoted on its website.
