What a rich irony that men have rolled over on their backs and let women become priests in the Church of England to now having a group of these women push for “the denomination to start referring to God as a ‘she’ during the weekly liturgy, stating that to make mention of God solely in the male pronoun is sexist.”
According to reports, the group Women and the Church (WATCH), which was behind the push to allow women to serve as bishops in the denomination, is now in talks with the Liturgical Commission for a change in the pronoun used during services when speaking of God. The group says that to refer to God in the masculine devalues women.
Thankfully, there are those who recognize that using “she” or “mother” in reference to God “drives a horse and cart through Scripture.” However, did the male leaders in the Church of England not recognize that women in church leadership effectually does the same thing? This is truly a brilliant consequence of refusing to follow God’s prescribed order. Now leaders are faced with “an innovation…guaranteed to split the C of E as never before.”
Women priests, bishops, and pastors (all inherently feminist) are a bane and hindrance to pleasing God on so many levels, and this effort is a sublime example of deceived women who are much like Eve. Why do men tolerate such nonsense, especially when there is biblical support to reject it? Often, just like these women, male leaders are willing to cherry-pick the Scriptures, obeying what they want and casting aside what they don’t.
It seems the male leaders who capitulated to the pressures of allowing female priests didn’t know how to pick their battles. They’ve opened Pandora’s Box, so to speak, and no doubt none of these women in their present ungodly frame of mind and heart would be willing to climb back in. Were these foolish men just hoping the roll of the dice to be inclusive would result in a good outcome? Now they’ve got a tiger by the tail. This is an excellent reminder that ultimately God won’t be mocked and disobedience never pays.
